Guide to the new website
Welcome to our new visitors!
If you are a new visitor to the website then welcome! We hope that you will find it a useful source, not only of information on the UK Location Programme, but also for wider matters relating to location information in the UK. Take a look around. The homepage shows you what is new to the site with the various panels showing the most recently updated information. You can navigate via the links at the left of the page or, for the homepage, by using the page tabs across the top of the page.
You will find all news items on the Updates page – if they are open for comment then we have put those under the category of “Discussion”. If you are looking for a document then visit the “Resources” page and follow the links on the left hand side.
…and to our previous visitors
If you have arrived here as a visitor to the old site then there are a few tips and tricks. If you enter the site through the old homepage URL (www.defra.gov.uk/location) then all will be well. But if you were used to getting to things by navigating directly using bookmarked URLs within the site, then I’m afraid these will no longer work. Where things reside on the new site is different and so these old bookmarks will no longer work.
Good news though is it won’t take you long to find the information on the new site. Just follow the guidance above for new users or use the Search box. And as a new site, we have enabled Google and others to index it and so hopefully soon you will be directed to the information you need by your search engine.
But feel free to provide your feedback – there is a post in the Discussion area on the website for that purpose.
